Distributed components include the Command! application, Help files, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine ("Desktop Engine"), a database primarily for use with a standalone or small network (see the section on system requirements for more information). All versions are distributed with Desktop Engine.\par To access a distributed component other than Command!, open the CD or downloaded folder and browse for the application.\par Before installing Command!, determine whether the installation computer has the Desktop Engine or network access to the Desktop Engine or Microsoft SQL Server 2000. If it does not, first install the Desktop Engine or establish a network connection to the Desktop Engine or SQL Server 2000. Each standalone installation or local area network must have its own database engine. \par Five Setup types are available: Minimal, Workstation, Professional, Enterprise, and Custom. Minimal installs only the required components to install Command! Workstation, Professional, and Enterprise are described above. Custom permits the selection of custom components. \par \par 1. Beginning the Installation\par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 If Command! is on a CD, insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive. Open my computer then go to the corresponding CD drive. Double-click on the setup.exe file. Otherwise double click on the setup.exe file in the folder where the install kit is located. \par \pard\nowidctlpar\par 2. View this Readme\par \par 3. Accept the License Agreement\par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 When installing you must review the software license agreement provided with your install kit. Please read the license completely. If you accept the terms and conditions, press the Yes button. Otherwise press No to exit the install process.\par \pard\nowidctlpar\par 4. Provide Customer Information\par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 The InstallWizard next asks for customer information. \par \pard\nowidctlpar\par 5. Select Setup Type\par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 Five choices are available. Minimal, Workstation, Professional, Enterprise, and Custom. See above for details.\par \par \i CUSTOM SETUP\line\i0 This permits custom installation of selected components, including add-ins, servers, and administrator tools. After choosing a custom installation, the InstallWizard will display a window to select where to install the Command! files and select components to install. You can change the installation folder or keep the default. Once the desired options are selected, click next to continue. The InstallWizard confirms setup type before it begins copying installation files. Click on Back button to review or change settings. If the Next button is clicked, file installation will begin. After the installation is complete, click the Finish button.\par \pard\nowidctlpar\par 6. Shut Down or Restart Computer\par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 Once the installation process has completed, you may be asked to reboot the computer.\par \pard\nowidctlpar\par \pard\keepn\nowidctlpar\s2\b CREATING A COMMAND! DATABASE\par \pard\nowidctlpar\b0\par If a Command! database is not available, one must be created on the database engine. Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine ("Desktop Engine") should be installed. The Desktop Engine may be installed on the local computer or a local network computer. Use the Database Setup Wizard to create a new database.\par Note: You must have the proper privileges on the database server to create a database. You must be logged into Windows with an appropriate user account or provide a valid DB Login Name and Password. If you do not, database creation process will fail.\par 1. Start the Database Setup Wizard\par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 If running Command! for the first time, bring up the setup wizard. Select Connect to or Create a Command! Database and press the Next button.\par \pard\nowidctlpar 2. Specify New Database Connection Settings\par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 This form is used to specify the location and login information for the database server. The fields are described below:\par \b Database Server\b0 - Select the machine (where the database engine is running) from the list. If the machine is not in the list, type in the computer name. If the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine has been installed onto the local computer, leave the box with (local).\par \b Use Windows Security\b0 - This is used depending on the type of user authentication for the database engine. If local machine running Command! is using Windows 98/ME, the Use Windows Security box will be grayed out and will always be unchecked. Enter a valid DB Login Name and Password for the database server. If the local machine running Command! is running Windows NT/2000, the box should only be checked if every PC on the local network is running Windows NT/2000. The box should already be checked. Do not uncheck. Authentication is performed based on the user's current Windows login name and password. If there is a mixed network with both Windows 98 and Windows NT/2000 machines, the Use Windows Security box should be turned off for all nodes using the Database Management utility.\par \b DB Login Name\b0 - This is the user name when logging into the database server. If using a newly installed Desktop Engine, use the login of sa. The user name sa stands for system administrator and provides user access to all databases on the engine. \par Password - This is the password assigned to the login name. If using a newly installed Desktop Engine, leave this field blank.\par \b Use Database\b0 - Type in the name of a new database to create on the server.\par Press the Next button when all necessary options have been entered. If the information is incorrect, a message will appear that the application could not be connected to the database server.\par \pard\nowidctlpar\par 3. Verify Creation of New Database\par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 A dialog window will ask the user to verify that the database entered does not exist and that it should be created. Press the Yes button to create the database or press the No button to cancel.\par \pard\nowidctlpar\par 4. Select a User Account\par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 The new database requires a new user account for other users to connect to the newly created database. (Usually other people should not access the database engine and create new databases after the initial Command! database has been created.)\par In this window, enter in a new User Name and Password (twice to ensure the correct password) for the other people to use when connecting to this database. Be sure to record this information for others so they can connect to it later. Press the OK button to continue or Cancel to abort the process. If OK is selected, the Wizard creates the new database and underlying structures within it.\par \pard\nowidctlpar\fi-360\li360\par 5. Select a Template\par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 The database can be populated with a variety of default data. This can include software macros, workflows, activities, and other items. By selecting a template, this pre-existing information is loaded into the new database. A template must be selected. Select the Generic template if uncertain what to choose. Once template as been selected, press the Next button. This will then load the template data into your database.\par \pard\nowidctlpar\fi-360\li360\par 6. Identify Location \par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 Each Command! database needs to have a location identifier specifying the locale of the database. Enter into this window a name to uniquely identify the location that this database will support. Additional locations may be added at a later time through the Command! administrator features. Press the Next button to continue.\par \pard\nowidctlpar\fi-360\li360\par 7. Create the Command! Administrator Account\par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 Create a Command! account used to administer Command!. This is not related to the connection information in the database -- this information is only used by Command!. Enter a valid User Name and Password (twice to verify correct typing) for the administrator account. Use this account when first logging on to Command!. Press the Next button to continue.\par \pard\nowidctlpar\fi-360\li360\par 8. Specify the Default File Location\par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 Command! requires a path to an existing directory for storage of files created by other software applications (source files). Use this form to provide a default location to store files. Press the Browse button to choose a folder for application source data. If using Command! on more than one computer, either use a mapped network drive (i.e. R: mapped to \\\\server\\share) or specify the path name in UNC format (i.e. \\\\server\\share\\folder). Otherwise other computers will not be able to access the stored data. The wizard will append some additional fields to help distinguish job information in your file structure. By default, the fields will create a subdirectory for each year, then month, then day, then job number. Files in the folder will be named according to activity and ID. Press the Next button once you have entered a valid path and file name.\par \pard\nowidctlpar\fi-360\li360\par 9. Connection Setup Complete\par \pard\nowidctlpar\li360 Your new database is now complete! You can log on to the Command! program using the Administrator account you created. Press the Finish button to continue with Command!.\par } #Previous1ToLatest1( FLiLi@HB'C$H &@H?;C8DE $P@H?dA/B6H #@HYEDhE7G "@H??wElDj;E$H$@H??wElDj>D/H P@HAAk>A.A*B@HA0C;;B&F7BB4FhD&BSummaryInformation(D@H?dA/B6H @H??wElDj>D/H' DL` t Command!
